This journey connects the landscapes of the Sacred Valley with the living traditions of Andean communities, passing through Lares, Wacawasi and Yanahuara before continuing by train to Aguas Calientes.
Unlike busier trekking routes, the Lares Trek focuses on mountain scenery, local encounters, textiles, rural life and the relaxing Lares hot springs at the beginning of the experience. The route includes a demanding but rewarding high pass at 4,400 masl, making it best suited for travelers with a moderate fitness level and good acclimatization.

This Lares Trek 4 Days to Machu Picchu combines Andean culture, mountain trekking and a final visit to Peru’s most iconic archaeological site. The route begins in Cusco and moves through Calca to the Lares Hot Springs before reaching the Wacawasi Community, creating a first day focused on landscapes, local atmosphere and preparation for the hike.
On Day 2, the trek crosses a high mountain pass at 4,400 masl before descending toward the Yanahuara Community. Day 3 continues from Yanahuara to Ollantaytambo, where travelers board the train to Aguas Calientes and spend the night in the included hostel. On Day 4, the journey culminates with the visit to Machu Picchu before returning to Cusco.
